You Must Abide in Christ
The new birth marks the beginning of a lifelong work with the Lord Jesus Christ. You must remember the fact that the new life in Christ is several miles away from your old sinful lifestyle. When you give your life to Christ your values, your priorities and desires will change. The Bible says:
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new. 2Corinthians 5:17
To abide in Christ is to be separated from satan and sinful pleasures.
Living a righteous life requires constantly abiding in Christ.
Christian character has no deposit. The fact that you just gave your life to Christ does not mean you will never be tempted. Your victory depends on how you abide in Christ). to do this you must separate yourself from old sin partners; corrupt colleagues and those with whom you kept company along the corridors of iniquity,
LIFE IN CHRIST
You must abide in Christ who is the fountainhead of righteousness. You must abide in the One who is meek and lowly in heart. You must abide in the One who will inspire you to move on in the pathway of righteousness. You must abide in Jesus the One who will keep you away from sin.
The Bible says;
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
John 15:4
The greatest problem among today’s converts is inability to abide in Christ. Many people who have experienced salvation often hop in and out of Christ. Such people suffer from spiritual epilepsy. They give their lives to Christ one moment only to go back the next moment.
To be genuinely saved, you must abide in Christ. This entails keeping close to the Lord and walking in His steps every moment of the way. The moment you accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour, the ownership of your life has been reposed in the Lord. All you need to do is to soak yourself into Christ so that the fullness of His life can be made manifest in you.
BECOMING A DISCIPLE
If you abide in Christ the nature and character of Christ will be made manifest in you. You cannot abide in Christ without manifesting brokenness. When you abide in Christ you will experience the reality of what it takes to be meek and lowly in heart.
The moment you are born again, you are expected to become a disciple of Christ. Jesus is calling you to the school of discipleship today:
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30
Jesus is calling you into a lifelong learning experience4″Learn of me”, He says. You must learn what it means to be a faithful follower of Christ. You need to learn the basics of Christian living you should learn how to observe your quiet time. You must learn about prayer, personal Bible study, consistent witnessing and how to experience victory forever temptations.
You must also learn the importance of attending Christian fellowship or Church services. When you learn of Christ on continual basis you will begin to get transformed into His likeness.
The more you know of Christ the more you will be challenged to pray to be like Him in words, thoughts and deeds. When you abide in Christ, you will be changed from glory to glory.
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2Corinthians 3:18
Abiding in Christ will make you to be conformed to the image of your Lord, Saviour and Master. Abiding in Christ makes your inner man to be renewed after the image of Christ.
