TAKE YOUR WEAPON, OPEN THE WINDOW AND SHOOT
Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father; my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And Elisha said unto him, Take bow and arrows. And he said to the king of Israel, Put thine hand upon the bow. And he put his hand upon it: and Elisha put his hands upon the king’s hands. And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the LORD’s deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria: for thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek, till thou have consumed them. And he said, Take the arrows. And he look them. And he said unto the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground. And he smote thrice, and stayed. And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed it: whereas now thou shalt smite Syria but thrice. And Elisha died, and they buried him. And the bands of the Moabites invaded the land at the coming in of the year. 2 Kings 13:14-20
Joash was the king of Israel but he was very young. Joash lacked experience. He was a young king but the Syrian army was after him. The Syrian army was very strong but he was very weak. Before now he had depended on Prophet Elisha to help him.
Elisha stood as one army for the whole of Israel. The prophets of those days were involved in battles. Expectedly, Joash was very worried when he found out that Elisha was sick because he was already getting old, about eighty years old or more. Elisha who was helping KingJoash was dying so he was worried and he cried.
GOD’S ARROWS
A lot of people have been crying over their problems, but the truth is that crying will not solve any problem. Your crying will be an entertainment for the enemies. The cry of Joash did not impress anyone. KingJoash was weeping not because Elisha will die but because he himself might die, so Elisha told him to take a bow and arrow. This means that you should gather your weapon.
KingJoash was a pathetic character. His hands were shaking when he took the bow and arrow, but Elisha put his hands on the shaking hands of Joash to steady them.
Beloved, having God’s arrows in your hands is one thing but using them is another. A lot of Christians are dying everyday. The weapons are there but if you don’t use them, the enemy will manipulate and torture you. You must gather your weapons of war so that the touch of God upon your hands will energise your hands.
King Joash was told to open the window. This means you should create opportunities. Put something on ground that the Lord can work on as raw materials. The Bible says faith without works is dead. Your action may sometimes be awkward. There is a point when you pray for a job or breakthrough
and you take no actions. Locate what you want to shoot.
PARTIAL VICTORY
King Joash was told to shoot. It is wrong to shoot without God’s assistance. There is nothing to aim at where the hand of God is upon your hand and you shoot. The arrows of God are self targeting. You may fire the arrows of deliverance anywhere and the arrow will travel seven hundred miles away from where you are. The arrows of God will never miss the targets. They will strike and no man can avoid them.
When Joash shot the arrows, Elisha now shouted another instruction that the arrow should be used to smite the ground. It was amazing why Elisha said so. But most people don’t know that the earth they are treading upon is a living entity. When Elisha told KingJoash to smite the arrow on the ground, kingJoash smote the ground with the arrows three times and he stopped. This made him to receive partial victory because he did not smite continuously.
Beloved, you should not settle for partial victory like king Joash. You must shoot at the enemy. Then you will announce what the arrows will now do. Just like Elisha announced. Your arrows may remain ordinary until you announce its assignment.
ARROWS OF DELIVERANCE
Elisha announced the arrows of the Lord’s deliverance and the deliverance from Syrians. There is something called sharp shooting prayers. This means that you have arrows that you can shoot and if you shoot the arrows you will be delivered. When you shoot the arrows you shall be delivered from the hands of the enemies.
There are some people whose virtues have been caged inside wandering animals. As far as the animals continue to wander, they will continue to wander, gathering nothing.
A sick brother was brought for prayers. As they were praying for him, there was a revelation of a very slim goat and the brother’s uncle was holding the neck of the goat. As the prayer was going on, the man released his hands from the goat. All of a sudden the sick brother shouted; “Something went out of me”. He has been programmed into a wandering.
CONTEND WITH THE ENEMY
Beloved, there is a lot of wickedness going on. i\ person’s spirit can be programmed into a goat or any other animal. As far as the goat is eating grass the person’s life will be eating grass. He just finds out that there is nothing he touches that works or succeeds.
Some people discover that any time a promotion list is about to be read or announced, the list will scatter. Others enjoy partial breakthroughs because the enemy has taken their breakthroughs from them. You need to pray so that the arrows of Lord’s deliverance will deliver you from the hands of the
enemy so that you can enjoy God’s blessings.
