Prayer is a gift to you and a privilege. The gift is offered to all and all may become the wielders of the great power in prayer. However, the fact remains that the power of prayer is least exercised by the average believer. You will do well to learn the art of warfare prayer. The present temperature of the prayer of many Christians needs to rise if they expect serious breakthroughs. The prayer points in this book are targeted at certain needs so that as you are praying, you will not be beating the air. This is how to use the book:

  1. Locate your area of need by looking at the table of contents.
  • Select appropriate scriptures promising you what you des ire. Meditate on them and let them sink into your spirit.
  • Go about the prayers in any of the following ways as led by the Holy Spirit:
  1. Three days’ night vigil, i.e., praying from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. For three consecutive nights.
  • Three days’ fast (breaking dally), i.e., praying at intervals and breaking the fast at 6:00 p.m. or 9:00 p.m. Daily.
  • Seven days’ night vigil, i.e., praying from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. For seven consecutive nights.
  • Seven days’ fast (breaking daily), i.e., praying at intervals and breaking the fast at 6:00 p.m. or 9:00 p.m. Daily.
  • Three or more days of dry fast, i.e., praying and fasting three or more days without any food or drink.
  • Pray aggressively.

NOTE: Spend part of the vigil or fasting praying in the Spirit. Praying in the

Spirit is an ability to pray in tongues as given utterance by the Holy Spirit. To pray in the Spirit you must have been baptised in the Holy Ghost (not water baptism) – 1Cor. 14:15.

A group of Christians could gather and pray these prayer points over the sick. In order to pray any of the healing prayers effectively, kindly go through the personal deliverance section first. Please, note that the general healing prayers applies to all sicknesses and diseases. You will be victorious in Jesus’ name.

SHORT BIBLE STUDY ON DIVINE HEALING

ORIGIN OF SICKNESS

Sickness and disease did not exist in the original plan of God. Upon completion of the work of each creation day, God passed it through His quality control laboratory and declared “It was very good.”

Genesis 1:31 says: And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

God never intended that sickness in body, soul and spirit should be the lot of man. See also the following Scriptures:

1 Thes. 5:23: And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

3 John 1:2: Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

Unfortunately, with sin came sickness into the world, and ‘so death passed upon all men . . .’

Romans 5:2: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Romans 5:14: Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.

Genesis 2:17: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not

eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Genesis 3:17: And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the

voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;

JESUS BROUGHT SOLUTION

Jesus destroyed at calvary the works of the destroyer, satan.

1 John 3:8: He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Through the redemptive work on the cross, the believer has a right to physical health, as well as the salvation of his soul.

Isaiah 53:5: But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Matthew 8:17: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

1 Peter 2:24: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

This is why physical healing is closely associated in Scripture with spiritual deliverance and forgiveness of sin.

Psalm 103:3: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

Isaiah 33:24: And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity.

Isaiah 53:3-5: He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and

carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Matthew 4:24; 8:16-17; 9:26; 12:22: And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them. When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: 17That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses. And the fame hereof went abroad Into all that land. Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.

Mark 2:1-2: And again he entered into Capernaum, after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house. 2And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.

Luke 5:18; 5:20-23; 16:17-18; 8:2,36; 1.1:14; 13:16: And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him. And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee. 21And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone? 22But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts? 23Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk? And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases; 18And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed. And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and : infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils, They also

which saw it told them by what means he that was possessed of the devils was healed. And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake; and the people wondered. And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?

Acts 5:16; 10:38: There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed everyone. How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

James 5:15: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

SPIRITUAL REQUIREMENTS FOR PHYSICAL HEALING

1. SERIOUS DESIRE TO BE HEALED

Matthew 20:30-33: And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David. 31And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David. 32And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you? 33They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.

Mark 10:46-52: And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. 47And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. 48And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have

mercy on me. 49And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee. 50And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus. 51And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. 52And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

John 5:6: When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now along time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?

2. FAITH IN GOD’S ABILITY TO HEAL

Matthew 8:10,13; 9:2,23, 28,29: When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour. And when Jesus came into the ruler’s house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise, And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee. And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.

Luke 17:9: Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not.

Acts 3:16; 14:9: And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all. The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he

had faith to be healed,

James 5:14-16: Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. 16Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

  • THE PROMISE OF HEALING HAS ALWAYS BEEN CONDITIONAL UPON OBEDIENCE TO GOD’S COMMANDS (“If . . .”)

Exodus 15:26; 23:25: And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee. And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.

Deut. 7:12,15: Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the LORD thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he swore unto thy fathers: And the LORD will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee.

Isaiah 58:8: Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward.

John 5:14: Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and sold unto him,

Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.

ALTHOUGH THE PROMISE OF HEALING WAS PRIMARILY INTENDED FOR THE PEOPLE OF GOD, HIS HEALING HAND OF MERCY MAY BE EXTENDED EVEN TO THE UNSAVED (SEE JOHN 9:35-37)

JESUS’ MODE OF HEALING

  • SCRIPTURE SHOWS THAT USUALLY THE HEALING JESUS MINISTERED WAS RECEIVED IMMEDIATELY

Matthew 9:22; 15:28; 17:18; 20:34: But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour. And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.

Mark 1:31, 42; 2:12; 5:42; 7:35; 10:52: And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them. And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the

leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed. And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion. And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years; And they were astonished with a greatastonishment. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God. And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him and how she was healed immediately. And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.

John 5:9: And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his

bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.

  • HOWEVER, THE BLIND MAN WAS HEALED IN TWO STEPS

Mark 8:23-25: And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought. 24And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking. 25After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.

Matthew 8:2-4, 14-15; 9:29; 20:34: And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. 3And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. 4And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother laid, and sick of a fever. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.

They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Luke 13:13; 22:50-51: And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear. 51And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.

Acts 9:12,17; 28:8: And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight. And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou earnest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost. And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.

So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children. And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

Numbers 12:13: And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, Heal her now, O God, I beseech thee.

Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the LORD. 10And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore. 11And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head. 12And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli marked her mouth. 13Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken. 14And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken’ put away thy wine from thee. 15And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunken neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD. 16Count not thine handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief have I spoken hitherto. 17Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast

asked of him. 18And she said, Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad. 19And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before the LORD, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the LORD remembered her.

1 Kings 13:4-6: And it came to pass, when king Jeroboam heard the saying of the man of God, which had cried against the altar in Bethel, that he put forth his hand from the altar, saying, Lay hold on him. And his hand, which he put forth against him, dried up, so that he could not pull it in again to him. 5The altar also was rent, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the LORD. 6And the king answered and said unto the man of God, Intreat now the face of the LORD thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of God besought the LORD, and the king’s hand was restored him again, and became as it was before.

2 Kings 20:1-6: In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him; Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live. 2Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, saying, 3I beseech thee, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. 4And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the LORD came to him, saying, 5Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I hove seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD. 6And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.

James 5:15-16: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. 16Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Rev. 16:2: And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image.

Physical ailment may be simply due to old age

Genesis 27:1, 48:10: And it came to pass, that when Isaac was old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see, he called Esau his eldest son, and said unto him, My son: and he sold unto him, Behold, here am I. Now the eyes of Israel were dim for age, so that he could not see. And he brought them near unto him; and he kissed them, and embraced them.

2 Samuel 19:35: I am this day fourscore years old: and can I discern between good and evil? can thy servant taste what I eat or what I drink? can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women? wherefore then should thy servant be yet a burden unto my lord the king?

It may be due to the sin of one’s parents (see 2 Samuel 12; 1 Kings 14), but not always (John 9).

When Jesus healed the man blind from birth, He made it clear that the physical defect was not the result of either of his parents’ sin or the sin of the one afflicted. It was only “that the works of God should be manifest in him.”

John 9:1-3: And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. 2And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? 3Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

Paul’s companion in the gospel (Epaphroditus) was “sick nigh unto death . . . for the work of Christ.” It was not due to Any sin in his life, but because the work of the ministry was so demanding.

Philip. 2:25-30: Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellow soldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants. 26For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick. 27For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow. 28I sent him therefore the more carefully, that, when ye see him again, ye may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful. 29Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in reputation: 30Because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.

Job was declared “perfect and upright” in the sight of God (Job 1:1,8; 2:3), but God allowed satan to afflict him tremendously (Job 2:7).

Through the healing of Aeneas’ paralysis the entire cities of Lydda and Sharon turned to the Lord.

Acts 9:34-35: And Peter said unto him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately. And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron saw him, and turned to the Lord.

GOD IS NOT LIMITED IN HIS ABILITY TO HEAL

IT DOESN’T MATTER HOW LONG A PERSON HAS BEEN AFFLICTED BY THE AILMENT

  • He can heal those afflicted from birth

Blind man

John 9:1: And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.

Lame person

Acts 3:2: And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid dally at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;

The cripple

Acts 14:8: And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother’s womb, who never had walked:

  • He can heal those who have been suffering from the same sickness for years and years.

Eight years

Acts 9:33-34: And there he found a certain man named Aeneas, which had kept his bed eight years, and was sick of the palsy. 34And Peter said unto him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately.

Twelve years

Matthew 9:20..22: And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: 21For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. 22But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

Eighteen years

Luke 13:11: And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.

Thirty-eight years

John 5:5: And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.

Since childhood

Mark 9:21: And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child.

  • He can even heal those who are at the point of death

2 Kings 20:1-6: In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live. 2Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, saying, 3I

beseech thee, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. 4And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the LORD came to him, saying, 5Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD. 6And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.

2 Chron. 32:24: In those days Hezekiah was sick to the death, and prayed

unto the LORD: and he spake unto him, and he gave him a sign.

Luke 7:2-10: And a certain centurion’s servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die. 3And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant. 4And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this: 5For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue. 6Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof: 7Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed. 8For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. 9When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. 10And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.

  • If necessary, God can even raise them from the dead

Dumb

a dumb man possessed with a devil. And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel. Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.

Atrophy (withered hand)

WHEN JESUS MINISTERED HEALING TO A PERSON, IT WAS A COMPLETE WORK

UNBELIEF SERIOUSLY LIMITS THE POWER OF GOD

Mark 6:5-6: And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. 6And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.

James 1:6-7: But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7For let not that man

think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

WHY DO PEOPLE SOMETIMES NOT RECEIVE THEIR HEALING?

IT MAY BE DUE TO LACK OF FAITH

James 1:6-7: But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

SIN OR DISOBEDIENCE MAY BE THE BARRIER

Psalm 66:18: If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:

Isaiah 59:1-2: Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save;

neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: 2But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

Jeremiah 5:24: Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.

John 9:31: Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.

IT MAY BE BECAUSE OF A WRONG MOTIVE OR INSINCERE INTENTIONS (pride, testing God). WE MUST BE CAREFUL TO CONSIDER

OUR OWN MOTIVE IN PRAYING FOR ANOTHER’S HEALING. JESUS WAS ‘MOVED WITH COMPASSION’ TO HEAL THE SICK. HE NEVER HEALED ANYONE SIMPLY FOR PUBLICITY, OR ‘TO BE SEEN.’ RATHER, HE FLED FROM THEM

James 4:3: Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

Mark 8:11: And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.

Luke 11:16: And others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven.

Matthew 14:14: And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.

Matthew 20:34: So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes:

and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.

Mark 1:41 : And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.

John 5:13: And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place.

GOD MAY BE DESIRING TO WORK INTO OUR LIVES CERTAIN QUALITIES OF HIS SON, AND SOMETIMES THIS CAN BE ACHIEVED ONLY THROUGH SUFFERING

Patience

Romans 5:3: And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

James 5:10-11: Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience. 11Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

Obedience

Psalm 119:6: Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments.

Hebrews 5:8: Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;

Humility

2 Cor. 12:7-9: And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should. be exalted above measure. 8For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. 9And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Compassion

2 Cor. 1:4: Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we

ourselves are comforted of God.

Contentment

Philip. 4:11-14: Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. 12I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. 14Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction.

THE PERSON MIGHT REALLY BE IN NEED OF SPIRITUAL DELIVERANCE

WHY DO PEOPLE SOMETIMES LOSE THEIR HEALING?

If they return to the sin of their past life, having no change within, there is no guarantee that they will hold on to their healing.

John 5:14: Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him,

Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.

WHOSE RESPONSIBILITY IS IT TO PRAY FOR THE SICK?

FIRST, THE AFFLICTED ONE IS TO PRAY

Isaiah 38:1-5: In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came unto him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live. 2Then

Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, 3And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. THE ENTIRE CHURCH SHOULD CONTINUALLY LIFT UP IN PRAYER THE AFFLICTED MEMBERS OF THE BODY

James 5:16-17: Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. 17Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that It might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

NO MATTER WHO IS THE VESSEL USED BY GOD TO PERFORM A MIRACLE OF HEALING, JESUS IS ALWAYS THE HEALER. HE ALONE IS TO RECEIVE THE GLORY FOR ANY MANIFESTATION OF THE POWER OF GOD

MIRACLES OF HEALING SHOULD DRAW PEOPLE CLOSER TO GOD, CAUSE THEM TO RECOGNISE HIS LORDSHIP AND LEAD THEM INTO WORSHIP

IS THE INTEREST IN DIVINE HEALING A VALID EMPHASIS?

3 John 1:2: Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

A GREAT PORTION OF THE LORD’S MINISTRY INVOLVED HEALING THOSE PHYSICALLY AFFLICTED. (HE DID NOT MINISTER ONLY TO THE SPIRITUAL NEEDS OF THE PEOPLE.)

Luke 4:18: The Spirit of the lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

WHEN HE COMMISSIONED THE APOSTLES TO GO FORTH, IT WAS WITH THIS COMMAND: ‘HEAL THE SICK, CLEANSE THE LEPERS . . .’

THE HOLY SPIRIT HAS PROVIDED THAT SPECIFIC GIFTS OF HEALING BE PLACED WITHIN THE BODY OF CHRIST, FOR OUR BENEFIT

‘THE INHABITANT SHALL NOT SAY, I AM SICK; THE PEOPLE THAT DWELL THEREIN SHALL BE FORGIVEN THEIR INIQUITY.’

THIS PROMISE OF HEALING TO THE PEOPLE OF GOD CAN BE INDIVIDUALLY CLAIMED TODAY; BUT WE MUST LOOK TO HIM FOR IT, RATHER THAN TO THE PHYSICIANS

Deut. 32:39: See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.

2 Chron. 16:12: And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased

in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought

not to the LORD, but to the physicians.

STEPS TO PERSONAL DELIVERANCE

When you understand self deliverance, you will keep yourself from being demonized; you will keep yourself healthy, physically and spiritually and be free from demonic pollution. Every day, you will enjoy divine health and will not be spending your money on drugs and hospital bills.

Sometimes, there may be no minister who is anointed and knowledgeable about deliverance to help you. Sometimes, you can be heavily attacked in your dream and the next service is about four days away. What do you do? You should never allow evil spirits to reside in your life. If you lack adequate time to do a self deliverance in the mornings, after your quiet time, then, when you’re having your bath, you could do it.

Our environment is such that there are many evil spirits moving around and if you are not regularly cleaning your house, they may lodge there; your level of education not withstanding. If a whole university professor could carry a ritual sacrifice because he needed promotion, then education is irrelevant.

Let’s learn a few lessons now before we go Into the actual practice.

A demon is a spirit, which means it’s like a wind or breath. Most evil spirits leave through the breathing passage or by any opening in the body. This is why sometimes when prayers are hot some people begin to pass out gas or emit bad odour. Now when an ambulance wants to go through a busy area and blares its siren, the purpose is to dear the traffic so as to expedite the passage of the ambulance.

Therefore, when praying for self deliverance, you should keep quiet after the prayer before electing those evil spirits. This is why at times we ask people to breath in and out. If you are praying or speaking at this time, the spirit will not go out because you have not opened the way for it.

The next lesson you must learn is this; demons can come out by simple breathing, coughing, choking, yawning, vomiting, etc. The manifestations vary according to the person and the spirit involved. All the spirits that are not

deeply rooted, depart easily, but those deeply entrenched, will require more time and effort to go. The more stubborn ones will require the help of other believers. Even when they are that strong, and you continue to wound them daily, they will eventually be mortally wounded.

Also, know that if multiple spirits are responsible for one problem, all of them must be removed before total victory is assured. One thing is certain; with every inch of ground grabbed from the devil, you will notice a definite improvement in your life. This is certain. Once the spirit leaves you, there will be a change in you.

Also, remember that an evil spirit must have a legal ground for staying in a person’s life.

The purpose of all these information is to enable you to do a self deliverance at home for yourself.

The process of self-deliverance is carried out in stages. Let’s go through them one by one.

Step ONE – Start with praise worship. You can sing songs to praise God and to worship Him.

Step TWO – Confess out loud promising deliverance Scriptures.

Let us run through a few of them:

Luke 10:19: Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Ephes. 1:7: In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Romans 16:20: And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

Rev. 12:11: And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the

word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Col. 2:14: Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took It out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

Col. 2:15: And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Galatians 3:13: Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made

a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

Galatians 3:14: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Psalm 91:3: Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

2 Tim. 4:18 has this to say:

And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

You must at least memorize this one – 2 Tim.4:18.

Step THREE – Break covenants and curses to destroy their legal hold. You pray a simple prayer like this:

“I break any curse working against me or I break any covenant working against me, in the name of Jesus.”

A simple prayer point with much results.

Step FOUR – Bind all the spirits associated with those covenants and curses like this:

“I bind all the spirits attached or connected to the curses and covenants I have lust broken, in the name of Jesus.”

Step FIVE – Lay one hand on your head and the other on your stomach or navel and begin to pray like this:

Holy Ghost fire, burn from the top of my head to the sole of my feet, in the name of Jesus.

Begin to mention every organ of your body; kidney, liver, intestine, blood, etc. You must not rush at this level. Lay your hands on areas that the Spirit of God leads you to. Do not be afraid if you notice that you are swaying or staggering, etc.

Step SIX – Then begin to saturate yourself with the blood of Jesus. You do this by saying:

“Blood of Jesus, enter in to my spirit, soul and body.”

Next you say:

“I drink the blood of Jesus.”

This must continue until you have a release in your spirit to stop.

Step SEVEN – It is now, that you are able to demand firmly, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, that any spirit that is not of God should leave you. You demand it force fully like this:

“In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I come against all you hidden spirit and I bind your activities in my life. You can no longer hide below the surface because I now recognize what you have been doing; release me.”

If sickness is the problem, address it and say,

“You spirit of Infirmity, I speak to you directly, get out of my life now. I am redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ, come out and go now. Go out with every breath by the power of the Holy Spirit. I prevail over you, in the name of Jesus.”

At this point, you stop talking; open your mouth and nose and begin to breath in

and out. Take about three to seven deep breaths, and expel them forcefully through your mouth and nose. You may be surprised that strange things will begin to happen. Repeat this stage again and again. This will help you to flush out any deposit or impurity within your body. You may notice that you are coughing, yawning, sneezing, sweating or shedding tears, but continue and do not lose your concentration.

Step EIGHT – When you have finished the expulsion stage, you then ask for a fresh in-filling of the Holy Spirit and close the session with praises.

When you are attacked in your dream, rise up and go through the stages I have already mentioned. (Our book “Victory Over Satanic Dreams” can help you further.)

Self-deliverance keeps you from getting sick; it removes every evil seed of the enemy; it charges your body with fire. It uproots evil plantations and builds up your confidence.

Every night before you go to bed, you must remember these three important prayer points.

1 Pray that the walls of fire should surround you. The Bible says:

Zech. 2:5: For I, saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory In the midst of her.

  • Pray for cover with the blood of Jesus.

Rev. 12:11: And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

  • Also pray that the angels of God should surround you.

Psalm 34:7: The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

No matter how sleepy you are, make sure you pray these three prayer points every night.

There is no reason why self-deliverance should not be effective. However, if the person seeking deliverance is under stubborn demonic control or hereditary strongman and locks sufficient faith or authority to defeat the oppressors or living in any known sin, the evil spirits will defend what they think is their right.

One final word of caution. For a person to be delivered, he must desire deliverance. Self deliverance must not be done because of pride, shyness, the fear of possible public embarrassment, etc. Your motive for engaging in self-deliverance has to be pure.

Remember, deliverance is a process and the length of time It takes depends on several things viz:

A. the length of time the spirit has stayed inside a person,

B. the strength and reinforcement of the spirit,

C. the experience and degree of anointing upon those who are ministering the deliverance,

D. the willingness of the person being delivered to be free,

E. the knowledge of the word of God and your level of hatred for sin.

For self-deliverance to be very effective, a great deal of self-discipline is necessary.

Also, remember that bondage can be weak or strong. A weak hold can be broken quickly, whereas a stronghold may take a longer time.

You will not realize the strength of a bondage until you faithfully and persistently work on it. You must remember that a foothold can graduate to a stronghold if left unaddressed.

After this exercise, you can set aside some days (with fasting) to pray the

following prayer points.
