DEFEATING MIND-CONTROLLING FORCES
The mind is the centre of life. For anyone to succeed in life his mind must play an important role. Those who experience defeat and failure in life can trace their situations to the state of their minds.
A good heart will automatically ensure wholesome living, while a bad heart will make men and women to experience all kinds of unhealthy situations. If you take care of your mind you have succeeded in taking care of your life. If you neglect
your mind and allow evil mind controllers to introduce their poison into it, you will end up reaping a harvest of woe, calamity, sicknesses and diseases, satanic attacks and eternal damnation.
I want you to make this personal confession as an expression of what you believe God to do in your life.
Father Lord, I come to you today in realisation of the fact that my mind is important to you, to me and to the devil. I bring my heart to you today for total cleansing, healing and deliverance. I do not want demonic mind controllers to have anything to do with my mind. I declare today that my mind belongs to God. I have no part with the devil and his demons. My mind was created by God and for his glory. Therefore, renounce and cancel every negative thing that has found its way into my life. I expel it, in the name of Jesus. I possess a sound mind from today, in the name of Jesus. I cover my mind and my heart with the blood of Jesus and I bring it under the canopy of the fire of the Holy Ghost. I confess that from today, good things will dominate my mind. I shall think good thoughts and my mind
shall be wholesome everyday of my life. I place the arrow of fire at the door of my heart. With this I bar all demonic mind controllers from trespassing. My heart is the abode of God, the seat of the Lord Jesus and the temple of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, I dedicate my heart to the glory of God. From today, my heart shall be filled with the glory of God as water covers the sea. This is my confession and it is sealed with the blood of Jesus.
I also want you to take the following prayer points:
- Oh Lord, as You silenced the lion in the den for Daniel, silence all my lions.
- Oh Lord, as You surprised the enemies of Shedrach, Meshach and Abednego, surprise my enemies, in the name of Jesus.
- Oh Lord, as You disgraced Pharaoh who constituted a threat to the children of Israel, disgrace my Pharaoh, in the name of Jesus.
- I clear all my goods from the strongroom of the strongman, in the name of Jesus.
- I command this year to hear the word of the Lord and vomit all my blessings, in the name of Jesus.
The focus of this chapter is to put a key in the hand of every believer with which he can lock the devil and all mind controlling spirits out of his mind. With this key, mind controlling spirits will no longer be able to tamper with your mind. Your mind will be wholesome, godly and productive. It will become a divine workshop for good ideas. At the end, you will hand over your mind to the Holy Spirit who alone can keep your heart safe and sound.
We have made it clear, previously, that mind-controlling spirits work on evil altars and act as satanic surgeons, performing evil operations on the human mind. Men and women have all kinds of strange experiences as a result of these wicked operations.
I have come across people whose minds are suffering from complete breakdown of law and order. Others have lost the control of their minds, and are therefore mad. Those who are not outrightly mad are suffering from brain waves. Who is responsible for these? The devil, of course.
Recently. I came across a man who was so poorly dressed and unkempt that I took him for someone who was out of his mind. Surprisingly, this man was obsessed with the thought of becoming the president of Nigeria. His purpose of coming to me was to tell me that he was surely going to become the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I had to control myself from laughing at the idea. “But what makes you think that you are going to become the president of Nigeria?” asked. Then he told me a story.
According to him, a thought flashed through his mind one day when he was walking across the road which had been barricaded because the President was passing through that road. Then something told him. “What they are doing for the president will also be done for you. You will become the next president.” He had been obsessed with that thought for more than 20 years. I took time to mention the names of all Nigerian presidents for the past 20 years. Then I asked him, “Why have you not become a president since the past 20 years?” He said. “That is exactly why I am here. I want you to pray for me so that I can become the president.”
I spent a long time trying to persuade the man that what he needed was the deliverance of the mind. The man was not mad but his mind was under the control of powers of darkness. They had carried out some complicated surgery on his mind. The man had even got to the point of making a vow that he was going to go about in shorts until he became a president. This tells us that mind-controlling spirits can be very wicked.
Mind-controlling forces know no age barrier. They attack adults and children. These days, children have become their greater targets of attack. Some children are now labeled autistic (hyperactive, restless and uncontrollable). This is a strange phenomenon. These children
are easily identified wherever they are found. If they are students or pupils they constitute problems to teachers. They refuse to talk to anyone, scatter classes and are impervious to correction. They are not mad. Their brains are in a perfect condition but their minds are bewitched.
THE REAL PROBLEM
A lot of things are going on today which cannot be easily explained. Many people are suffering because of ignorance. The Bible is correct which says,
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6).
There are so many things which we do not know about. These things happen all the same. Many people who have been christians for donkey years exhibit monumental ignorance as far as the activity of satanic mind controllers is concerned.
It is an undeniable fact that the body of Christ has been without the knowledge of most of the activities of the devil for too long. Many people who love the Lord have suffered unnecessarily because of ignorance. Some people have even died in the process. In the past, christians were taught that they did not need to know anything about the devil. They erroneously taught that once they were in Christ all past bondages had passed away and all things had become new. These christians swallowed that idea hook line and sinker only to discover that they had been wrongly taught by their teachers.
I cannot begin to recount how many pastors, sectional leaders, women leaders, pastors’ wives and key church workers who have come to me to narrate certain experiences which they have grappled with for ten or 20 years. These people have been carrying church responsibilities. Yet, they have had their secret battles, long standing problems and inner turmoil. Some of them have had problems with getting married after passing the prime of life. Others have had some attacks which they could not disclose to anyone until they came to me.
Some of these people’s children were having demonic problems. But, they would not do anything about it because deliverance was not part of their church doctrine. They were busy as church workers while the devil was equally busy afflicting their wives, husbands and children.
The situation was so bad until the Lord began to open their eyes. Some were proud initially. They did not want to own up their problems. Others were tied down by denominational sentiments. But because the Lord loves His people, He brought about a revival of the teaching of total victory over satan and demons. Some christians began to seek for knowledge. They did not allow themselves to be held down any longer by denominational ties. They valued their total victory more than their church positions. They started to embrace the knowledge of the truth which liberates.
Some were still fearful until God in His mercy began to grant them access into the fullness of victory in spiritual warfare and over demonic harassment. Today, the story has changed. More and more people are now enjoying their freedom in Christ. The apostolic days are here again. God’s people are now willing to be free. Thousands have chosen liberty instead of bondage. The result is that lives have changed; the bound have been set free, the oppressed have been released. This doing of the Lord is marvellous in our eyes. We are grateful to God who has led the church into full liberty in Christ.
It took a lot of courage to stand for the truth. It was not easy in the past to declare the truth of deliverance and spiritual warfare. People thought that we were strange and that we were teaching people to do evil. We did not stop because we knew that people were suffering. We continued against all odds.
Today, we have prevailed through perseverance and faith in God. God has honoured his word which we preached over the years. People have now discovered the difference between sweeping problems under the carpet and tackling them head on through aggressive prayer and spiritual warfare.
Indeed we looked funny to those who were observing us years ago, but today God has turned the tide in our favour. God has gone so far in redeeming his people.
Today, when I see these Christians radiating joy in their lives I give glory to God. Nightmares, poverty, satanic attacks, evil spells, demonic children, the spirit of non-achievement, the problem of failure at the edge of miracles, the problem of finding it difficult to get married, ugly harassments by agents of the devil, battling with parental problems, all these can now be dealt with and overcome.
People have now seen what prayer can do. Previously, we were labelled as a praying and demon-chasing church. But today, God has used us to lead members of the body of Christ into the full liberty of the sons and daughters of God. Thousands have benefitted and are still benefitting. Christians at home and abroad are discovering that they need not suffer in the midst of plenty. They have discovered that victory is sweet while bondage is bitter. And they have chosen the former.
Today, it is easy to declare the counsel of God concerning victory in every department of one’s life. However, we have also attracted a lot of enemies as a result of our commitment to the declaration of the truth of the supremacy of the power of God over the power of the enemy.
The result is that while more people are enjoying their christian, social and family lives others have decided to criticise what the Lord has been doing among His people. Through it all God has given us victory.
I was surprised the first time I saw a white man praying over his washing machine. I thought it was strange. But surprisingly it worked. From that time, I made up my mind that I was going to stand for the truth no matter who opposes me. I have made up my mind to teach the total truth. I have decided to emphasize salvation and total freedom or deliverance. While teaching inner and outward holiness, we are going to continue to emphasize the importance of spiritual warfare.
It takes the combination of teaching and prayer to practically enjoy the fullness of the gospel. Praying without sound doctrine may lead to fanaticism, while sound doctrine without prayer will lead to formalism, sooner or later. To teach without giving enough time for prayer is to fill the head with knowledge while actual experience is nothing to write home about. There is no short cut to victory. We must teach and practice the whole counsel of God if we must help God’s people, in this day of high level satanic operations.
A lot of people take sleeping pills, yet they cannot sleep. Many people are tired yet they cannot sleep. Some people have to calm themselves down with barbiturates yet sleeping remains a battle. These are parts of the activities of mind controlling spirits. Unless these problems are dealt with, they can lead to more serious problems. Once the devil is able to gain access into the mind he will quickly assign one of the wicked spirits to instil fear in the person, even the fear of death. Or the person will go into unreasonable actions and refuse to listen to advice.
You must know how to deal with spirits that control the mind. A sister came for prayer recently. She was troubled because her husband had threatened to kill her if she failed to get out of the house. She did not want to lose her life, neither was she prepared to lose her home. She decided to seek for urgent help. After she narrated her story, I gave her some prayer points. She went home and prayed the prayer points with the desperation of a wounded lion, as she was tired of her situation.
When she went to bed after the prayer she had a dream which baffled her. She saw her photograph tied with black thread. She ran back to me to narrate her strange dream. I questioned her if she had ever given her photograph to anybody. She told me that she had consulted a prophet because she wanted to retain her husband’s love. The prophet told her to bring her photograph which she tied with black thread and buried it. Unknown to her, the prophet had used the photograph against her marriage. The prophet wanted to scatter her home to gain her love. She did not know that the prophet would dig up her photograph every night and try to manipulate it to influence her
to begin to love him. That was how she almost lost her home. This is how some sisters have ended up marrying false prophets.
God never intended human beings to be controlled like robots. But a lot of people are being remotely controlled like robots by mind-controlling forces. These powers often cast spells on people by using articles and photographs. Their victims have remained in bondage.
HOW TO RECOGNISE THE PRESENCE OF MIND CONTROLLING FORCES
If you want to know whether mind controlling forces have affected your mind, answer the following questions.
- Did you have a special friend in school who deserted you or died suddenly?
- Did you have a special relationship with a man or a woman which collapsed suddenly?
- Has your wife or husband deserted you for another partner?
- Did your best friend steal your wife or your husband?
- Is your partner having affairs with other men or women?
- Is there anybody who dipped his hand into the same dish with you and has gone about spoiling your name?
- Have you been betrayed by somebody whom you have high regard for?
- Did you sponsor someone’s education only for the person to refuse to show appreciation?
- Did you help anyone who later disappointed you?
- Did you invest any money in any joint business venture with a friend only for the friend to run away with the proceeds of the business?
- Have you been jilted by a man or a woman?
- Have you ever told lies to save yourself and put someone else in trouble?
Answer all these questions and examine yourself thoroughly to ascertain whether you have been a victim of mind controlling powers.
If you ask me to name the most powerful weapon of witchcraft in the world today, it is the television. There is a force behind the television. Everyday millions of people stare at the television, glued to their seats.
When the television is energised by satan and a demonic programme is on, some demonic forces may urge you to keep on watching. Mind-controlling spirits will then take over from that point. The evil programme would be transferred to the realm of the dream. Eventually, you will begin to have horrific dreams.
I never knew that there was anything called Dracula until a particular mother dragged her daughter to my counselling office. The young girl’s problem was that Dracula was chasing her in her dream. I asked her, “What is Dracula?”. She simply smiled and told me that Dracula is a vampire spirit. Again I had to ask her, “What is vampire spirit?” She replied, “It simply means a blood-sucking spirit.” She then narrated how she came across the Dracula on the television. I asked her, “But why must you watch that kind of horrendous film?” She said, “I don’t know. I just like watching it.” That was how what she saw on the television began to haunt her.
When something bad comes into your mind and pollutes your thoughts it will prevent you from focusing your mind on good things. These mind-controlling spirits are responsible for a lot of evil things that goes in the human mind. They make people’s minds to be wicked, foolish, hardened, carnal, vain, defiled, unstable, corrupt and weary.
You must be careful about what you use to decorate your house. Most of the carvings which people use to decorate their houses are dangerous. They are heavily loaded with demons. You must be careful about everything around your vicinity. You must watch what you use to decorate your house. You must avoid all carvings that resemble idols or animals such as snakes or frogs. You must get rid of any carving that represents any unclean creature in the Bible.
These animals are listed in the book of Leviticus. Such carvings will bring strange fire into your home.
You must also be careful about what you eat. Somebody wants to celebrate his 50th birthday for the third time and decides to buy a cow. His purpose is to transfer all his problems into the lives of as many people as eat the cow. Before the cow is slaughtered the celebrant would place his hand on it and demand that every problem in his life be transferred to it and that whoever eats the meat should inherit all his present and future problems, be it death, accidents, sickness or evil attacks. The cow is slaughtered and the meat is cooked. Everything is done in accordance with the instruction given by fetish priests or white garment prophets. The sacrificial cow would be served from house to house to unsuspecting victims.
If such meat is given to you and you eat it foolishly, you are voluntarily deciding to carry an evil load which does not actually belong to you. Such sacrifices are very common today. The virtues and the blessings of so many people have been exchanged through them.
OTHER FORMS OF BEING SUSCEPTIBLE TO ATTACKS
Let me enumerate below other forms of being susceptible to attacks by mind-controlling spirits.
• THROUGH WORLDLY MUSIC
If you play the type of music that is inspired by the devil in your house, you will consequently invite the spirit that came into the life of the composer. Certain music carries with it an air of rebellion. Even if normal people listen to that kind of music, their behaviour will change to be abnormal. It is unfortunate that most of the best selling records are filled with lewd and obscene language, incantations, slangs, abusive songs and other things that are capable of inciting people into bad behaviour.
Sometimes people think of strange things. For instance, someone in a vehicle saying, “What if this vehicle has an accident right now? Maybe, this vehicle will run into the lagoon or the driver loses control. Many of us will soon be rushed to the hospital.” All these thoughts come from mind-controlling forces.
• READING BAD BOOKS
If you read bad books the influence behind the book may soon enter into your own life. A lot of our teenagers today are in trouble because they are reading the wrong books. If you ask them why they are reading the bad book, they will tell you: “We simply want to improve our English” They are deceiving themselves.
• THROUGH DRUGS AND ALCOHOL
Some people are addicted to hard drugs and alcohol. It will be a great tragedy for anyone coming to a church where the power of God is moving and holiness within and without is taught and the person is still drinking in secret. Such a person will end up cutting himself off from the anointing of God.
- THROUGH ANYTHING THAT ALTERS THE MIND
- INHERITANCE FROM PARENTS
If the father is careless and confused at all times, the children will take up such habits. If the mother is melancholic, the children may also become bitter.
• BY ATTENDING FAKE CHURCHES
Mind control spirits can take hold of somebody’s life if such a person attends a fake church. If you attend a church where a signature is written on your palm you are making yourself a victim of wicked mind-controlling forces. If you pray with a prophet’s picture you are also opening your heart to demonic influence.
- BY SERVING OR DISTRIBUTING ANY FOOD THAT HAS SATANIC POISON
There are many kinds of food items that come from satanic origin. If you distribute any food which was prepared with satanic ingredients you will end up losing the control of your mind to demonic controllers.
- BY SLEEPING WITH A FETISH PRIEST OR A FALSE PROPHET AS A MEANS OF SOLVING YOUR PROBLEMS
- BY PUTTING ON THE UNDERWEAR OF A POSSESSED PERSON
- BY EATING ANYHOW IN THE STREETS
If you come across a roasted plantain seller and discover that there is no fresh fire in her local oven, or that all she has are two or three plantains with no sign of having peeled them there, then you can be sure that she is a certified demonic agent. Many of the people who hawk food in the streets are chronic idol worshipers. Unknown to most people, they generally dedicate their food to their idols each day before going out to sell. If you eat that kind of food without prayer your mind may be polluted.
THE DIVINE SOLUTION
Finally, let us examine the solution to the problem of the manipulation of the mind.
- YOU NEED TO RECOGNISE THE PROBLEM AND IDENTIFY IT
How do you recognise a problem that emanates from the mind? If you memorized the Scriptures and fall to remember them when you need them, then you need help.
- YOU MUST COME TO THE REALISATION OF THE FACT THAT GOD WANTS FULL CONTROL OF YOUR MIND
God is not interested in partial control of your mind. The Bible says,
And he, answering said, thou shall love the Lord thy God with all thy heart with all thy soul, with all thy mind and thy neighbour as yourself (Luke 10:27).
God will never share your mind with other inhabitants. The Bible also teaches that your mind must agree with what the Bible classifies as sound thoughts.
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things (Phil. 4:8).
At this moment I want you to examine the thoughts in your hearts in the light of what you have just read.
Do you think about what is true?
Are your thoughts centered on honest things?
Is your mind preoccupied with unjust things?
Are you considering impure thoughts in your mind?
Are you thinking about unlovely things?
Do you believe every report?
Your answer to these questions will reveal the state of your heart. Again, the Bible says,
God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power, of love and of his sound mind (II Timothy 1:7).
• Is your mind filled with the power and the love of God?
- Is your mind sound?
- YOU MUST RENOUNCE THESE POWERFUL DARK
SPIRITS
Don’t let them deceive you. Sometime ago a man brought his two wives into my office because he had great problems in the family. I told him what the Bible teaches concerning marriage. I advised him to keep only the first wife. The man found it difficult to accept my counsel. His excuse was that the two wives liked each other. He told me that in fact they could not do without each other. He refused to obey the word of God. Today, he has lost both wives. Both of them are dead. The man has became as confused as ever.
- YOU MUST WAGE WAR AGAINST MIND CONTROLLING SPIRITS
It is unfortunate that many people find it difficult to maintain a clean heart. Such people generally refuse to fight against powers that pollute the mind.
If you find it difficult to think through a particular thing you must be ready to wage war against wicked spirits today. The devil is a very good lecturer. If you listen to him, he will confuse you. The devil will tell a lady, “How can a beautiful lady like you marry an ugly man? Go to the mirror and look at how beautiful you are. You should not remain in your husband’s house. You must find another man.” That is how far the devil can go in confusing innocent souls.
Somebody was duped about half a million naira, a huge amount which did not belong to him. He decided to end up his life. He took a sip from a bottle containing acidic battery liquid. As soon as he took the acid he started rolling on the ground and crying. He shouted to attract the attention of neighbours. Evil spirits had worked on his state of mind and used it to lead him into untimely death.
Mind-controlling spirits are responsible for failures, or for things to be erased from the mind automatically. They programme the mind to think and do evil things. Their goal is total destruction. Do not give
them an inch in your mind. Rise up and fight against them today.
Make sure that your mind is holy, healthy, happy and godly.
