50 MFM Prayer Points Against the Spirit of Taking Things for Granted:
Exhortation:
Beloved in Christ, we often navigate our lives surrounded by blessings – the air we breathe, the health we possess, the love of family and friends, the provision of our daily needs. Yet, familiarity can breed a dangerous complacency. The spirit of taking things for granted is a subtle but potent enemy of our spiritual growth and our appreciation for God’s abundant grace. It blinds us to the miraculous in the mundane and deafens us to the constant outpouring of divine favor. Today, let us examine our hearts and actively resist this spirit, cultivating instead an attitude of constant gratitude and fervent appreciation for all that the Lord has done, is doing, and will continue to do in our lives. Let us not allow the blessings of today to become the entitlements of tomorrow.
Confession:
Heavenly Father, we come before you today acknowledging the many times we have failed to recognize and appreciate your goodness in our lives. We confess that we have often taken your blessings for granted – our health, our families, our provisions, and even your saving grace. We have allowed familiarity to dull our sense of wonder and entitlement to overshadow our gratitude. Forgive us, Lord, for our unthankful hearts. We repent for every instance where we have overlooked your hand in our lives and failed to give you the glory due to your name. Cleanse us from the spirit of ingratitude and help us to cultivate hearts that are always thankful.
Scripture Reading:
Psalm 103:1-5 (KJV)
Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.1
Praise and Worship:
Spend some time reflecting on the Scripture reading and lift your voice in praise and worship. You can sing hymns or contemporary worship songs that focus on God’s goodness, mercy, and the blessings He has bestowed upon you. Consider songs like “Count Your Blessings,” “Great is Thy Faithfulness,” or any song that fills your heart with gratitude.
