Exhortation:

Beloved, the Word of God is our spiritual food, our guide, and our weapon. It is the lamp unto our feet and the light unto our path (Psalm 119:105). To neglect the reading of Scripture is to starve our spirit, walk in darkness, and go unarmed into spiritual battle. The enemy knows the power of God’s Word and will do everything in his power to distract us from it. Today, I urge you to rekindle your passion for the Word, to make it a priority in your life. Let us not be hearers only, but doers of the Word (James 1:22). Let the Word dwell in us richly (Colossians 3:16), transforming us from glory to glory.

Confession:

Heavenly Father, we come before you acknowledging our shortcomings. We confess that we have often neglected the diligent reading of your Holy Word. We have allowed the cares of this world, the distractions of technology, and the laziness of our flesh to keep us from the life-giving pages of Scripture. We have missed opportunities to know you better, to receive your guidance, and to be strengthened by your promises. Forgive us, Lord, for the times we have chosen other things over your Word. We repent of this neglect and ask for your grace to cultivate a hunger and thirst for your truth.

  13. I decree that my Bible will not gather dust, but will be my constant companion, in Jesus name, Amen.
  14. Let the anointing of the Holy Spirit empower me to understand the deep things of God’s Word, in Jesus name, Amen.
  15. Every power assigned to make me prioritize other things over the Bible, be dismantled, in Jesus name, Amen.
