Biblical Exhortation:
Beloved, the Word of God reminds us in Psalm 34:14: “Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.” Strife is a destructive force, a weapon that the enemy uses to sow discord and hinder God’s purposes. As followers of Christ, we are called to be peacemakers, to resist the urge to engage in contention, and instead, to actively seek and promote harmony. Let us be mindful of our words and actions, ensuring they are seasoned with grace and aimed at building up, not tearing down. Remember the words of Proverbs 15:1: “A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” Let us choose the path of peace, knowing that the Lord blesses the peacemakers (Matthew 5:9).
Confession:
Heavenly Father, we come before you acknowledging our shortcomings. We confess that at times, we have allowed ourselves to be drawn into strife, either through our words, our actions, or our reactions. We have not always pursued peace with the diligence you desire. We have sometimes harbored resentment, spoken harshly, and allowed bitterness to take root in our hearts. Forgive us, Lord, for every way we have contributed to or participated in strife. Cleanse us from all unrighteousness and grant us a heart that seeks peace and pursues it relentlessly. Help us to be agents of reconciliation and instruments of your peace in the world. Psalm 91:1-16
“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Let us worship Him for His power to break every chain of strife and to establish His peace in our lives and in our world. Let us sing praises to the King of Kings, the Prince of Peace, who reigns forevermore. Let our worship be a sweet-smelling savor unto Him, acknowledging His sovereignty and His goodness.
